Rishi Kara

Before filmmaking, I spent a decade in technology and finance.

I started as a software engineer at Goldman Sachs, co-founded a digital media company in India, and later ran investment technology initiatives at BlackRock. I went on to become the first product manager within BlackRock’s Digital Assets Lab, where I helped launch the iShares Bitcoin Trust.

In 2023, I left BlackRock for USC’s School of Cinematic Arts, where I earned an MFA in Film & Television Production.

That background shapes the stories I’m drawn to: people trying to find agency inside systems bigger than themselves.
